Miscellaneous

Okay, so today is going by very slowly. My boss is in Pawnee, IL today so I'm not as rushed or busy as I am when she is here, but I'm still pretty busy.

I forgot...last Monday we went to the Fox and saw Larry the Cable Guy...that guy is so crazy and funny - I ended up sweating from laughing so hard for so long. I love going to comedy shows.

My brother and Susan came over last night...we didn't do much but watch TV, talk and we ended up going through pictures of Jake. Jake has a project due at school that chronicles his life from the minute he was born to present day - Susan asked if I would help since I am the scrapbooker - so we picked a few pictures from my collection to use on the project.

I think the Superbowl is this weekend - doubt I'll watch - no Rams!

But, is the Cory Spinks and Zab Judah fight this weekend too? I guess I should know since it's here in St. Louis! That should be interesting...I'll tell you what...Cory better win! He's the St. Louis boy and Zab Judah flew in here acting like he owns St. Louis - don't think so! He said he was the King...whatever...Cory better win! Knock his ass out!

Ummm...I don't think I have much else to say...I know, it's sad. I don't understand. When I'm in person I can talk for hours straight...hhmmm...who knows?

Long Weekend

I had a nice long weekend. It was great being off on Monday. I proved to be the laziest person in the universe this weekend. I didn't do anything Friday or Saturday. Sunday, I took the Christmas tree down and Monday, I scrapped all day and I think I might have vacuumed the family room. Kinda sad, huh? I didn't leave my house all weekend - I was inside my house from 4:00 Friday evening until 5:45 a.m. this morning.

I'm pissed at Jason, he didn't come home until I was in the shower this morning! He's so inconsiderate. He knows how much it bothers me when he doesn't come home, but apparently he doesn't care about what I think. I hope he likes it, because I am bound and determined to do it to him one night and see how he likes it. The only problem is...my friends are all responsible, so they won't stay out until all hours of the night and morning! Ugh!

I suppose I'll go home and scrap some more tonight. I'm working on our Hawaii album and I need to get it done! I have so many album ideas, but I can't get them all accomplished!

American Idol starts tonight, so I hear. I just like watching the first couple shows because they show you all the people that suck! I love it!! I mean, what is wrong with people? Anyway...

Okay, later.

Wrath!

Isn't that the truth? Like I needed this quiz to figure this out!

Take the Which of the 7 deadly sins are you? quiz, and visit Castle Diqueria.

The Move In

So, my nephew, Zach, moved in on Friday. He's already driving me nuts. He seems to get away with murder - even having a "fresh" mouth. My mom used to go off on my brother and me if we smarted off. And, let me just say, I would have NEVER smarted off to my aunts - never!

My mom went and bought him a track cell phone so he thinks he's so cool now - HE'S 12! Will he really be away from the house that much that he'll need a cell phone to check in?

He's being very possessive too. My mom bought cereal and he's under some kind of assumption that it's just for him. He came down to breakfast one morning and proceeded to tell me, "you better not be eating my cereal!". Whatever - I'll eat what I want! I know, I'm starting to sound petty, but when you haven't had to ever deal with pre-teens and they all of a sudden come live with you, it's weird.

Everyone keeps telling me that I'm an adult and that I shouldn't be so mean, but I can't help it - the kid drives me batty.

So, I thought that maybe Jason and I could move out and get our own place now - fat chance, I know. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to get used to a pre-teen who will be a teenager very shortly. God, do they have mouths on them or what? I know I did too, but that was me. ;)

New Year's Resolutions

Okay, does everyone make New Year's resolutions? I don't usually, but I figured this year I'd try to start.

Resolution One: Get organized and stay organized
Resolution Two: Lose weight - try to work out at least 4-6 times per week.
Resolution Three: Try to be more social.

I guess that's it. I don't really have any other resolutions.

Ready for the New Year!

I'm so ready to stuff this year and move onto 2005! For some reason, 2004 turned out to be a really crappy year! I'm going to make sure that I eat enough Black Eyed Peas and German Sausage tomorrow night to ensure my luck in the coming year.

As usual, I have no plans for New Year's Eve, except hanging out at my house. My mom and dad will have people over and my brother, his girlfriend and kids will come and J and I will be there. I don't feel like doing much but watching movies. Sad and pathetic, isn't it? I remember the days when if you weren't invited to some huge party on New Year's Eve you were a loser! I even remember spending New Year's at all of the Popular Bars and Clubs - but I have no desire for that anymore. I hope I'm just growing up and not becoming a loser.

We have so many little family traditions for New Year's, what are some of yours? Please respond if you are reading this. I'm just interested in old family traditions.

I guess I'll get to work for now, I'm sure I'll be back some time later today.

I Just Don't Care

I can't figure out if I'm a heartless, evil girl or just fed up with people. I just don't care about people, nor do I care to be social. The other day, on the news, there was this man that died trying to save a dog from an icy pond. The dog lived...
I've concluded that I would have done the same thing that the man did. My dad says I'm crazy or that I'm just saying that - but, what he doesn't understand is that I'm serious - I would risk my life to save an animal any day, but I doubt I would be so ready to die for another person. That's weird, but I really don't care anymore.

There's this one particular person here at work, we'll call her D, that drives me absolutely insane. She never sits at her desk, she's constantly walking back and forth in front of my desk, which makes me nervous - it's like she paces. Plus, she's the person in the morning that is always the first to come to your desk and say "Good morning!" like life couldn't get any better. On top of that daily greeting, she usually has a new picture of one of her daugthers and their children - okay, listen - I DON'T CARE - I've seen one picture, that's enough, I know what they look like now. So, today, when I'm obviously in a horrible, horrible mood, she comes up to my desk and says "Good morning" and waits a second to see if it would be a good idea to stop and "chat" at my desk. I say "Good morning" without turning my head away from the computer. Then she says "How are you", and I (still looking at my computer) say "fine". I suppose she finally got the hint and kept walking. UGH! Leave me alone, I'm just not a people person. I don't care about people. So, then, another girl, we'll call her C, who is ALWAYS happy comes in and comes over to my desk and insists on telling me about her kitchen that is being redone for the 10 millionth time (but, with her I don't mind, because I like her). Then here comes D - and low and behold, she has a picture in hand! Ugh! She shows it to C and C just coos all over the friggin' picture of three little girls and their mom. So, D insists on tilting it so I can see - so, I don't even grab it, I just look and smile.

I know I'm mean and that, at this rate, people will never like me and I will die a lonely, miserable, old woman (with a bunch of dogs) - but sometimes I just don't care! I think I should have been a person who works from home and rarely communicates with people in person or on the phone.

I guess the real problem is that I stayed up until 2:30 reading last night and then this morning, I couldn't find any clean underwear and had to search and dig through my pile of clean clothes (that I've been to lazy to put away this week). I'm just crabby - go figure!

Back Again!

Sorry guys! I've been so busy with Christmas and everything - it's amazing.

I still don't have my Christmas shopping done, I still have one more gift certificate to buy! Ugh! Christmas has turned into a pain in my rear! It's too much work really.

So, here's what I got everyone!

My mom: I got her a fur scarf, a hair dryer stand (that she wanted) and a gift certificate to the Old Spaghetti Factory.

My Dad: I got him a silver watch and a gift certificate to the OSF.

My Brother: I got him some True Motion Lures and a Travel Fishing Pole.

S (my brother's girlfriend): I got her the Winsor Pilates DVD set (she wanted it, I'm not hinting at anything!)

Z (Oldest Newphew): I will get him a $100 gift certificate to SOKA (a skateboarding shop).

Snake (Youngest Newphew): I got him the RoboSapien.

Linlee (friend): I made her a basket of all scrapbooking supplies.

Girls at work: I got a cute little snowman candle holder and put chocolates in it.

J (boyfriend): I can't tell you because he'll probably get on here and try to find out what he got!

J is doing all the shopping for his family today (and for me, I think - I hope!). I usually do the shopping for my family and he usually does the shopping for his family (and then we just put that it's from both of us). Maybe we're cheap because my brother and S always buy people separate gifts. Who knows? But, I usually do try to spend more on the kids since present-opening portion of Christmas is really a time for kids! I also tend to spend more on my parents since they let me live in their house and I'm 27! Oh well, I'm sick of worrying about Christmas - I can't wait until this week is OVER! I'm just happy that I'm off on the 23rd and 24th - it'll be nice.

This past weekend I spent the whole day Sunday wrapping presents - and when I say whole day, I MEAN the WHOLE day! But I got everything done for my mom, my brother and me! So I felt like I accomplished something. Saturday, I went to L's and we scrapbooked! We had a good time.

Well, I'm gonna get back to work, I'll talk later!

12 Ways to Get Rid of Telemarketers!

1. Ask if they want to loan you money, tell them you just filed for Bankruptcy and you could sure use some money.

2. If they start out with, "How are you today?" say, "Why do you want to know?" Or you can say, "I'm so glad you asked, because no one seems to care these days and I have all these problems, my sciatica is acting up, my eyelashes are sore, my dog just died..." When they try to get back to the sell, just continue your problems.

3. If they say they're Joe Doe from the XYZ Company, Ask them to spell their name, then ask them to spell the company name, then ask them where it located. Continue asking them personal questions or questions about their company for as long as necessary.

4. This one works better if you are male: Telemarketer: "Hi, my name is Judy and I'm with Canter and Siegel services.... You: "Hang on a second." (Few seconds pause) "Okay, (in a really husky voice) what are you wearing?"

5. Crying out, in well-simulated tones of pleasure and surprise, "Judy!! Is this really you? Oh, my God! Judy, how have you BEEN?" Hopefully, this will give Judy a few brief moments of terror as she tries to figure out where on earth she could know you from.

6. Say, "No", repeatedly. Be sure to vary the sound of each no, and keep an even tempo even as they're trying to speak. This is the most fun if you can keep going until they hang up.

7. If MCI calls trying to get you to sign up with their Family and Friends plan, reply, in as sinister a voice as you can muster, "I don't have any friends...would you be my friend?"

8. If they clean rugs: "Can you get blood out, you can? Well, how about goat blood or HUMAN blood.

9. Let the person go through their spiel, providing minimal but necessary feedback in the form of an occasional "Uh-huh, really, or "That's fascinating." Finally, when they ask you to buy, ask them to marry you.

10. Tell them you work for the same company they work for. Example: Telemarketer: "This is Bill from Mantermills." You: "Mantermills!! Hey I work for them too. Where are you calling from?" Telemarketer: "Uh, Dallas, Texas." You: "Great, they have a group there too? How's business/the weather? Too bad the company has a policy against selling to employees! Oh well, see ya."

11. Answer the phone. As soon as you realize it is a Telemarketer, set the receiver down, shout or scream, "Oh, my God!!!" and then hang up.

12. Say to the Telemarketer, "Sorry, I can't talk right now but if you'd just give me your home phone number I'll call you when I'm not as busy. When they say in a flustered way that they can't give out their home number say, "Oh, I see...you don't want strangers calling you at your home! Now you know how I feel." Even better now that they are calling you on your cell phone ask for their cell phone numbers!

Top 10 Dumbest Criminals

10. Strike one! England: A German "tourist," supposedly on a golf holiday, shows up at customs with his golf bag. 8. Say cheese! A man successfully broke into a bank after hours and stole--are you ready for this?--the bank's video camera. While it was recording. Remotely. (That is, the videotape recorder was located elsewhere in the bank, so he didn't get the videotape of himself stealing the camera.)

7. Drop everything and run! Two men tried to pull the front off a cash machine by running a chain from the machine to the bumper of their pickup truck. Instead of pulling the front panel off the machine, though, they pulled the bumper off their truck. Scared, they left the scene and drove home. With the chain still attached to the machine. With their bumper still attached to the chain. With their vehicle's license plate still attached to the bumper.

6. Just forget it Virginia: Two men in a pickup truck went to a new-home site to steal a refrigerator. Banging up walls, floors, etc., they snatched a refrigerator from one of the houses, and loaded it onto the pickup. The truck promptly got stuck in the mud, so these brain surgeons decided that the refrigerator was too heavy. Banging up *more* walls, floors, etc., they put the refrigerator BACK into the house, and returned to the pickup truck, only to realize that they locked the keys in the truck--so they abandoned it.

5. Ouch A man successfully broke into a bank's basement through a street-level window, cutting himself up pretty badly in the process. He then realized that (1) he could not get to the money from where he was,(2) he could not climb back out the window through which he had entered, and (3) he was bleeding pretty badly. So he located a phone and dialed "911" for help . . .
4. Let's do a little math A man walked into a Circle-K (a convenience store similar to a 7-11), put a $20 bill on the counter and asked for change. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled a gun and asked for all the cash in the register, which the clerk promptly provided. The man took the cash from the clerk and fled-- leaving the $20 bill on the counter. The total amount of cash he got from the drawer? Fifteen dollars.

3. I know I forgot something Indiana: A man walked up to a cashier at a grocery store and demanded all the money in the register. When the cashier handed him the loot, he fled--leaving his wallet on the counter.

2. You mean me? A pair of Michigan robbers entered a record shop nervously waving revolvers. The first one shouted, "Nobody move!" When his partner moved, the startled first bandit shot him.

1. The Hefty-bag A man went into a drug store, pulled a gun, announced a robbery, and pulled a Hefty-bag face mask over his head--and realized that he'd forgotten to cut eye holes in the mask.

A Little Thanksgiving Humor

A young man named John received a parrot as a gift. The parrot had a bad attitude and an even worse vocabulary. Every word out of the bird's mouth was rude, obnoxious and laced with profanity. John tried and tried to change the bird's attitude by consistently saying only polite words, playing soft music and anything else he could think of to "clean up" the bird's vocabulary.

Finally, John was fed up and he yelled at the parrot. The parrot yelled back. John shook the parrot and the parrot got angrier and even ruder. John, in desperation, threw up his hands, grabbed the bird and put him in the freezer. For a few minutes the parrot squawked and kicked and screamed. Then suddenly there was total quiet. Not a peep was heard for over a minute.

Fearing that he'd hurt the parrot, John quickly opened the door to the freezer. The parrot calmly stepped out onto John's outstretched arms and said "I believe I may have offended you with my rude language and actions. I'm sincerely remorseful for my inappropriate transgressions and I fully intend to do everything I can to correct my rude and unforgivable behavior."

John was stunned at the change in the bird's attitude. As he was about to ask the parrot what had made such a dramatic change in his behavior, the bird continued, "May I ask what the turkey did?"

What is Politics?

Whether Democrat or Republican I think you'll get a kick out of this - I know, it's a little old, but so cute!

A little boy goes to his dad and asks, "What is Politics?"

Dad says, "Well son, let me try to explain it this way: I am the head of the family, so call me The President. Your mother is the administrator of the money, so we call her The Government. We are here to take care of your needs, so we will call you The People. The nanny, we will consider her The Working Class. And your baby brother, we will call him The Future. Now think about that and see if it makes sense.

So the little boy goes off to bed thinking about what Dad has said. Later that night, he hears his baby brother crying, so he gets up to check on him. He finds that the baby has severely soiled his diaper. So the little boy goes to his parents' room and finds his mother sound asleep. Not wanting to wake her, he goes to the nanny's room. Finding the door locked, he peeks in the keyhole and sees his father in bed with the nanny. He gives up and goes back to bed.

The next morning, the little boy say's to his father, "Dad, I think I understand the concept of politics now,"

The father says, "Great son! Tell me in your own words what you think politics is all about."

The little boy replies, "The President is screwing The Working Class while The Government is sound asleep. The People are being ignored and The Future is in deep shit ."

I Feel Great!

I know, I know, it's Monday morning - but, I feel absolutely GREAT! I'm over all of my illnesses (after 7 days of steroids) and I'm just bouncing off of the walls! I'm getting so much done at work, I'm so proud! I'm renewing all of the Street Light Contracts with each municipality in St. Louis! I love being organized!

So, I can't wait for Thanksgiving! Hhhhmmmm...what am I thankful for?
1) I have a great family
2) I have a great boyfriend
3) I have a job
4) I have wonderful opportunities in life

Wow! There are so many things I'm thankful for...I'll have to think of some more.

What are YOU thankful for?

Pleurisy

Anyone ever heard of Pleurisy? Well, today I woke up and I was officially sick of being unable to breathe. I couldn't take a deep breath (it hurt so bad to do so) and every time I coughed, it hurt like hell. So, I called work at about 7:00 (when I was supposed to be there) and I let them know I wasn't coming in and that I was headed to the Emergency Room. I woke J up and had him drive me to St. Luke's. I get there and they ask me all of the normal questions but, then a question came up that didn't make much sense until it was explained to me and that question was, "have you been on any long trips in the last few weeks?". So, naturally I tell them that I got back from Hawaii on November 1. Then the doctor immediately tells the nurse to get an IV started and to take all kinds of blood. Finally, he explains to me that if I didn't move around enough on the plane, I might have developed a blood clot in my lungs and that they had to get blood and a chest x-ray. They take all of the blood, they take the chest x-ray and they eventually tell me I have Pleurisy. For some reason, that totally sounds like a learning disability to me! Anywho, they continue to tell me what Pleurisy is and what I have to do to take care of myself. For those of you who don't know, Pleurisy is the swelling or irritation of the lining of the chest cavity and lungs. Pleurisy causes sharp chest pain that is worse when breathing in. They end up giving me 800 mg Ibuprofen and a Tri-pac of Zithromax (Azithromycin). Then they proceed to tell me that regardless of the pain, I have to take deep breaths, as normal, to prevent from developing pneumonia. So, that was my Friday. Anyone else's Friday as lovely as mine?

Merlot

A man enters his favorite ritzy restaurant and while sitting at his regular table, he notices a gorgeous woman sitting at a nearby table all alone. He calls the waiter over and asks for their most expensive bottle of Merlot to be sent over to her, knowing that, if she accepts it, she is his. The waiter gets the bottle and quickly sends it over to the woman, saying this is from the gentleman over there. She looks at the wine and sends a note over to the man. The note reads: For me to accept this bottle, you need to have a Mercedes in your garage, a million dollars in the bank, and seven inches in your pants." The man, after reading her note, chuckles, and sends a note of his own back to her, and it read: Just so you know, I happen to have a Ferrari Testarosa, a BMW 850 and a Mercedes 600 SL, in my garage, and I have over twenty-five million dollars in the bank. But, not even for a woman as beautiful as you, would I cut three inches off. JUST SEND THE BOTTLE BACK."

9 Things I Hate About People

1
People who point at their wrist while asking for the time.... I know where my watch is pal, where the hell is yours? Do I point at my crotch when I ask where the toilet is?

2
People who are willing to get off their ass to search the entire room for the tv remote because they refuse to walk to the tv and change the channel manually.

3
When people say "Oh you just want to have your cake and eat it too". Damn right! What good is a cake if you can't eat it?

4
When people say "it's always the last place you look". Of course it is. Why the hell would you keep looking after you've found it? Do people do this? Who and where are they?

5
When people say while watching a film "did you see that?". No Loser, I paid $12 to come to the cinema and stare at the damn floor.

6
People who ask "Can I ask you a question?".... Didn't really give me a choice there, did ya sunshine?

7
When something is 'new and improved!'. Which is it? If it's new, then there has never been anything before it. If it's an improvement, then there must have been something before it.

8
When people say "life is short". What the hey?? Life is the longest damn thing anyone ever does!! What can you do that's longer?

9
When you are waiting for the bus and someone asks "Has the bus come yet?". If the bus came would I be standing here, dumbass?

I'm finally fed up!

I can't take it anymore, I'm so sick of hearing that I'm stupid because I voted for Bush! We'll see...

I'm sooo sick of hearing how stupid and irrational George Bush is! All this "oh the world's going to hell in a handbasket" and "we're all gonna die now" crap I keep hearing because George W was elected is so ridiculous! I hate to disappoint everyone who is so upset that George W won but, he won the POPULAR vote AND the ELECTORAL votes so, for you ignorant folks, that means he was the most popular!! Get over it, suck it up and move on! I have never in my life not supported one of our presidents because he wasn't the one I wanted! Grow up! I'm sorry, but he is our president and I really don't appreciate people saying that "I'm moving to Canada"! I'll tell you what...move, please move! I want you to take your whiney arses to another country and in one year please write me and let me know how well you're doing there. As a matter of fact, why don't you move to Iraq seeing as how you're probably the same damn people that believe we shouldn't be at war. Live in Iraq for 2 weeks and let me know how free and how well you feel. Finally, in case you've never taken any Political Science courses at school, the president doesn't control EVERYTHING...there is this little thing called Congress - ever heard of it? And, not to mention, has anyone ever heard of Checks and Balances? Quit blaming Bush for everything that has gone wrong, especially the deficit since it actually started at the end of Clinton's term!

Okay, I'm sick of whining like an anti-Bush, so I'm signing off.

Later!

Hawaii Trip Report

Sorry Guys! I know it's been forever, but I just got back from Hawaii on Tuesday and I've been super busy ever since! Here's my Hawaii Trip Report. I put some pictures in from the web, when I get enough energy, I'll scan some of our own pics in...enjoy!

Day 1 – Sunday, October 24, 2004

Mom drove us to the airport. We were to go to the East Terminal. As we arrived a man rushed out and grabbed our luggage, before we could even realize that he was looking for a tip! We stood in line for a short time to check in. We took off to our gate - #7. So many people were going to Vegas – there was even a couple going there to get married. She was sooo concerned about her dress.
Before we knew it, we were in the air. The flight to Vegas was about 3 hours long and seemed as though it was 12 hours! We were given a snack (goldfish pretzels and drinks). I got water and J got a soda. When we landed in Vegas, we had to find our way over to Terminal 2. After walking around for a while, we went outside and found the shuttle to Terminal 2. When we finally got there to check in we were given two seats across the aisle from each other. Up until the very last minute, the people in my row hadn't shown up – I was so hopeful – but, they showed up and then the attendant closed the door to the plane (just my luck). The flight from Vegas to Honolulu was 5 hours and 50 minutes long, but I swear this flight was longer that when we fly to Germany! I was miserable. I guess it didn't help that I was in a row with two people I didn't know. Plus, I barely fit in the seat (they were sooo small - I'm not even a big person) and I had to push the arm rest back to even fit comfortably and on top of all of this, I was sitting next to the most annoying couple on the face of the earth! They were about our age, but she kept wanting to get up (like 10-15 times). Then there was a baby that clearly did not like to fly, he screamed the entire time! But after three movies (Raising Helen, Terminal and 50 First Dates), we arrived in Honolulu! It was about time!

We stepped off of the plane and were welcomed by Worry Free Vacations and were given the traditional Hawaiian Lei Welcome (with a hug, kiss and lei). Then, we were handed our tickets to the breakfast tomorrow. We picked up our luggage and then we looked into renting a car; we checked with Budget and National. We ended up going to National. We decided on a midsize and it was only $240 for the entire week (with tax). We went to their lot to pick it up and to our surprise, the girl there said "I have a convertible, would that be okay?" We quickly accepted. We drove to our hotel and checked in. We were given room 317. I had read reports about how loud the lower floors were and how paper thin the walls were – but we didn't have too much of a problem. The only problem with the rooms were the toilets that seemed to be alive! Otherwise, the room was spacious, cozy and clean!

We ended up watching the baseball game (World Series Game 1) and then we ran across the street to browse around the International Market Place. They had so much stuff there! We got sucked in by the Pearl lady. She let you pick an oyster and then you could open it and buy the pearl inside (for $12.99). J did it and then she tried to sell us a setting for $100+ and when J didn't bite, she got mad – it was kinda funny! Then we walked around the entire market and ended up at one of the 38 ABC stores in Waikiki. We ended up buying bottled water, snacks, snorkels, etc. I know, we're suckers. After our shopping excursion, we put our suits on and ran down to Waikiki Beach (which is what our hotel lays on). We swam for a little while – the water felt sooo good! After we swam for about an hour we went back to the room and ordered room service. We both ordered the Cheddar burger and shared a Caesar Salad. We ate our dinner out on the balcony and it was so relaxing. After we finished, we watched the beach for a while and then went to bed!

Day 2 – Monday, October 25, 2004

Today we woke up at 6:30 a.m. and had to be ready to be picked up to go to our orientation breakfast. We were picked up and taken to a different location where we were fed a fantastic American breakfast. We had OJ, eggs, ham, hash browns, biscuits and muffins. It was good. Then we watched a little Hula show (the girls and the guy were from the Polynesian Cultural Center) and then another gentleman told about all the local things to do and what tours to get on. J and I decided to do the Atlantis Submarine Dive today. So we left the orientation and were surprised that there wasn't shuttle to take us back to the hotel. The only shuttle they had was going to the Maui Divers Jewelry tour which we didn't have time for. It was like 10:00 and we had to be at the Hyatt by 11:10 to be picked up for the Submarine Dive. To my disgust and fury, we walked 2 miles back to the Hyatt where we were picked up for the submarine dive. Anyway, we arrived to the Atlantis Submarine Harbor and to a shuttle boat out to the dive spot (about 8 minutes out). The dive was so fun, we saw shipwrecks, plane wrecks, sharks, sea turtles and all kinds of little tropical fishes. We took a shuttle back to our hotel and when we got there we asked the activities desk about the "Coconut Postcards". We couldn't find these anywhere and we really wanted to get them! After we talked to the Activities Rep, we decided to get our suits on and go to a beach, so we did.
Next we hopped into our Sebring Touring convertible and drove to the Miramar Hotel where we had to pick up our tickets for our Missouri Stars & Stripes Tour and our luau. Then we drove down by Diamond Head and Hanauma Bay and up to Kailua and Lanikai. Somehow, we got lost in Kailua while it poured down rain! Needless to say, we didn't make it to the beach that day!
So, we drove back to the hotel and decided to go out to dinner. We changed into our clothes and went to the Hula Grill on the Lobby level of the hotel. We both had our first and second Lava Flows (these things were soooo delicious). Then I had a Tropical Itch (after hearing so much about them), it's the one that comes with a back scratcher. This drink was sooo nasty but, of course, I drank the whole thing. I had the Lemon Ginger Roasted Chicken and Jason had the Spicy Shrimp Kung Pao. The food was very good. We sat at table #21. After dinner, we went for a stroll on the beach and it started to pour again! We got soaked! We went back to the room, dried off, watched some TV and went to bed.

Day 3 – Tuesday, October 26, 2004

I woke up early at about 5:15 am and jumped in the shower. When I got out J was ready for his shower. We got ready and then we left to go to the Hyatt to be picked up by "Roberts Hawaii" for our Missouri Stars & Stripes Tour. We arrived at the Hyatt at 6:20 and we weren't picked up until 6:40. Our driver's name was Ted and he drove bus 623. Ted told us to call him "Cousin Ted" because we were all "Ohana" (family). Our first stop was the USS Arizona Memorial. At the memorial (we arrived there at about 7:30 am) we were quickly put into "Group 2". We had about 45 minutes to look around, so we did and we went into the gift shop, the museum and shot some pictures of the USS Stennis – which was an Aircraft Carrier, the Bowfin (submarine), the USS Missouri and the USS Arizona Memorial. Then we were called to watch the movie before heading over to the actual memorial. The movie was good, but very sad. I got it all on video. Next, we rode a boat over to the memorial. It was very sad and eerie. The black tears of oil comng up from the wreckage was the eeriest thing I've ever seen. After the USS Arizona, we caught a trolley over to Ford Island to tour the Might MO! (the trolley was right outside the Bowfin museum). The Might MO was so neat. We had a tour guide named Toby who actually served on the MO. He was the Captain's Personal Assistant (I don't know the military term for it). Toby knew so much about this ship, it was amazing to listen to him talk. Next, we got back on the bus and drove to Pizza Hut for Lunch. We had the buffet and got sooo full! After lunch, we took a tour around Honolulu where we saw the Capital Building, Iolani Palace, The First Catholic Church in Hawaii, the Governor's Mansion, the business district and Chinatown. At the end of the Stars & Stripes tour we went over to the Punchbowl National Cemetery (named Punchbowl because it is an extinct volcano and is a crater shaped like a punchbowl). Our tour guide here was Henry who was from the American Legion. He, too, was very knowledgeable. There was a gorgeous lookout of Diamond Head and all of Honolulu from Punchbowl. Finally, we were dropped back off at the Hyatt, where we walked back to our hotel and went down to the beach for a little swim. After a nice swim, we went back to the room and took showers. We planned out the rest of our week and headed our for dinner. We drove over to The Hard Rock CafĂ© for dinner. Here we both had our first Blue Hawaiians (these, too, were sooo delicious). We both fell in love with the Blue Hawaiian and the Lava Flow. Our server's name was Jason and he's from New York. He's been in Hawaii for like 9 months. We got to talking to him and it turns out he was rootin' for the Cards too, because he is a Mets fan, so naturally, J liked our server! We drove back to the hotel and went to bed!

Day 4 – Wednesday, October 27, 2004

We woke up and had breakfast at the Hula Grill. Around 8:00, we drove over to Diamond Head and hiked to the top! It about killed both of us but, it was well worth it for the view at the top – it was absolutely beautiful!
After Diamond Head, we drove up the east coast and stopped at the Sandy Beach park and changed into our swimsuits, we didn't stay at this beach because you couldn't swim in that water because it was too choppy. So, we kept driving and looking for another beach. First, we stopped at Makapu'u Beach and the waves about drowned me! We ended up leaving this beach right when I got out of the water and finally ended up at Kailua Beach. We got there around 11:30 and we left around 2:45 – we both got sooo burnt and tan!
At 3:00 we went back to the hotel and took showers to get ready for dinner. We went and ate at Duke's Canoe Club on the Lower Lobby level of our hotel. I had the Huli Huli Chicken and J had the Ono – the food was alright – I didn't like the atmosphere because all I heard was about the damn Red Sox winning the series! We both drank a Lava Flow here and then we tried the Paninis (a banana/pineapple drink). We were sooo full by the end of the night though. Finally, we went back to the room to relax and ended up go to bed.

Day 5 – Thursday, October 28, 2004

We woke up and had breakfast at Duke's Canoe Club. Duke's has the most amazing breakfast buffet! After we ate, we left for Hanauma Bay. We got there about 9:00 and we saw our video about safety at 9:15. We were down at the beach by 9:20. We snorkeled until 11:30 – it was so much fun and so interesting. We stopped at the Hanauma Bay snack shop and I got a HUGE Shave Ice (this, too, was delicious) – Jason shared it with me! Then we left and went to the hotel to change for the Dole Plantation. Finally we drove towards the North Shore for Dole. We got there around 3:30 and took the 20-minute Pineapple Express Tour. Then we bought some souvenirs and I had some Pineapple ice cream and J had a chocolate covered banana. At the end, we did the Maze which ended up taking us like 45 minutes because we didn't know there were little maps, plus we didn't grab a pencil to shade in the areas we found! You have to find 6 stations while you're in there and there were little maps telling you kinda where they were and we didn't know that. This is the largest maze in the world, literally. It's in the Guinness Book of World Records. It's in the shape of a pineapple.
On the way home we drove up to the North Shore just to check it out a little. We didn't see much that night. Then we drove back to Waikiki and stopped at Bubba Gump's at the Ala Moana Shopping Center for dinner. On the way to the hotel after dinner we got lost somehow! We finally made it back to the hotel at 9:30 pm and we crashed as soon as we got there!

Day 6 – Friday, October 29, 2004

We woke up, ate breakfast at Duke's and got ready to go to the North Shore to swim with sharks. On our way we got lost (despite having perfect directions) and we got stuck in traffic, so we called and rescheduled for Saturday. Instead, we eventually found our way up to the North Shore. We drove all the way up the East Coast and over to the North Shore. We passed the Kualua Ranch (where a bunch of movies were filmed including Godzilla) and the Polynesian Cultural Center which was closed! Once we hit the North Shore, we drove by and stopped at all the big beaches like Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay, Pipeline, etc. We drove through Haleiwa (a small historic town) and we went to the Dole Plantation again to get our Hawaiian names and get J one of his Souvenir pennies. After that we drove back down to Haleiwa and walked up and down the entire main street of the town and went in all the little shops. We got some "Bubbies" homemade ice cream and we found our Coconut Postcards at a small shop called "Polynesian Treasures" – we also bought a little hula bear there. After that we drove back to the hotel. We got stuck in horrible traffic for about an hour. We finally got back to the hotel and we didn't move after that! We ordered room service for dinner (we had the same thing we did last time – cheddar burgers and Caesar salads) and we watched the Apprentice, Dennis Miller and the first Austin Powers movie. We fell asleep during the Austin Powers movie.

Day 7 – Saturday, October 30, 2004

That's right, Happy Birthday to me! It's my 27th birthday…
We had our usual breakfast at Duke's and then we headed back to Haleiwa on the North Shore to swim with the Sharks at Hawaii Shark Encounters. Our waiter at Duke's told us about a man that was attacked by a Tiger Shark on one of the other islands two weeks earlier – that made me nervous!
We arrived to the Haleiwa Harbor at about 9:30 am. We got on the boat, her name was Kainani. On the boat was Jimmy (the owner) and Don (the deck hand) and we were the first to arrive. Next came a couple from Seattle, then 3 young adults with a young kid (the kid's name was Rad, which was short for Radharra – Sanskrit) from Hawaii. We rode the boat about 3 miles out to sea and we stopped at buoy they had placed years before. They put the cage out in the water and told us that 4 at a time could go. So, the first group was the couple from Seattle, J and me. We saw a bunch of sandbar sharks, Galapagos sharks and two huge female Tiger sharks! It was sooo cool. It was unreal. Don would throw bait out to keep the sharks around. He also got the Tiger sharks to bite his bait on a rope and fought the shark, it was great! Next, it was the other group's turn. The same things happened to them. Poor Rad and the couple from Seattle got sea sick and kept vomiting over the side of the boat. Everyone in the cage kept thinking it was bait for the sharks. I felt so bad for them. After this, we stopped at a couple shops in Old Haleiwa. We ate some McDonald's and drove back to Waikiki. We went to Hilo Hattie to look for Aloha wear to wear to the Luau. Hilo Hattie is at the Ala Moana Shopping Center, so we also walked around the mall a little. Then we went back to the hotel and took showers for our luau. We, then, went to the Hyatt to be picked for Germaine's Luau. We rushed to be there on time and we were sweating. Then, all of a sudden, it started raining and the damn shuttle was late picking us up – so we had to stand out in the rain! Again, I was furious. But, finally, we were on our way to the luau. Our host, Alika, was hilarious. We got to the luau, got our pictures taken with our shell leis and found a seat right in font of the stage. The show was great so far (dancers, singers, etc.). J got us some drinks. We were given the "ok" to go to the buffet. I got the same type of stuff I would get at home, but J tried the "Poi". The show continued but, then it started to rain. J got us some trash bags but, they didn't help at all. Then it started to pour! Eventually, we all got back on the bus and headed back to Waikiki. Apparently, the luau was on the desert part of the island and it hasn't rained there in God knows how long! Just my luck! Anyway, Alika had us play games on all the "ugly buses" and he told jokes, sang and he just cracked me up! He was the best part of the night! Finally, we went back to the hotel and went to bed. All in all, my birthday was alright – up until I got home and found out what happened on my birthday at home.

Day 8 – Sunday, October 31, 2004

We woke up, packed a little, and then went to breakfast at Duke's. After we ate, we packed up everything and took our luggage down to the bellman's desk to hold until about 9:30 pm. Then we were headed out to take the rental car back to the airport by 1:30. Before we left we had our underwater cameras developed. We finally got to the airport and as we were dropping off the car, we realized we could rent it for the rest of the day for only $30 more – so we just turned back around and went and picked up our luggage. We just drove around all day, we ate at Cholos Mexican restaurant on the North Shore, we drove around Waikiki at night looking at everyone's costumes and we drove to the Pali Lookout and it was gorgeous. It rained all day! On our drive from Pali Lookout, we found a bunch of waterfalls! It was great! Finally we returned to the airport at about 7:30 and dropped off the car. We waited for the Agricultural Inspection and we checked in! They made us check our bag of souvenirs at the boarding gate and low and behold, they lost it! It ended up in Detroit! We didn't get our bag until November 3! I was soooo furious.
Finally, we went home!
